Namaste,
Ma’s Birthday is May 26th, and we have a special Bandara and Puja to honor her.
It is on Ma’s Birthday that She would initiate sanyasin (swamis).
On this special birthday celebration two new swamis were ordained by Ma’s closest devotee, Yashoda.
This is a very special day for Kashi as Ma and Baba’s Lineage continues.
This is a very special day for Baba Ram and Keshav as they become sanyasin.
I am asked often, what does it mean to be a swami?
I answer simply, to serve and care for Ma and Kashi.
Ma would say all the time, “I am the Ashram”, so to care for her includes everyone and everything.
Her teaching is one of service, and this is what being a swami means.
Please come and feel the joy and grace of Ma and her Kashi.
Our recipe this month is called vegetable dosa, an Indian pancake.
The base of a dosa is made of rice and lentils, and when blended makes a batter for pancakes.
I hope you enjoy!!!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati Rice – Organic
- 1 cup Red Lentils – Organic
- 1/4 Green Cabbage – Organic
- 1/4 Red Cabbage – Organic
- 2 sprigs Green Onion – Scallion – Organic
- 1 Carrot – Organic
- 1/2 teaspoon – Himalayan Salt
- 2 cups Water
- Vegetable Oil – Organic
Utensils:
- Mixing bowl
- Food Processor
- Blender
Directions:
Step 1: Put Rice and lentils in Bowl and Cover with Water.
The first step is to put both the rice and the lentils in a mixing bowl and add water.
Cover the bowl and let sit for 3 to 4 hours. You can even do it the night before and put in the refrigerator.
Step 2: Wash, Prep Vegetables in the Food Processor.
Wash vegetables then cut them into bite size pieces with a knife and cutting board.
Now they are ready to go into the food processor to be blended up very small, as small as the machine will do.
Put all the veggies in a bowl and get ready to prepare the dosa batter.
Step 3: Blend up the Rice and Lentils into a Batter.
After the rice and lentils have soaked for at least 3 hours they are ready to be blended.
Put all the rice and lentils and water into a blender.
Turn on your blender and turn into a puree.
It should look like a pink pancake batter.
Step 4: Add Vegetables to Batter.
Add the finely chopped vegetables into the batter.
Whisk and mix well.
Add salt and mix well.
Step 5: Cook the pancakes on a griddle or frying pan.
Heat a griddle or frying pan to a medium heat and add a small amount of oil, a thin amount like for making pancakes.
Pour 4 small pancakes into the pan, and with the back of a spoon spread the pancake a bit more.
Flip when golden brown about 1 minute per side.
It takes a bit of practice. If the batter is too thick add a bit more water, and add salt to taste.
Serve and enjoy!!!
